Here’s what we do:

When you enroll in the My Safe Bermuda Home program by engaging our firm to conduct a 4-point insurance inspection we’ll arrange a convenient time to come out to your home, do the inspection and generate a report with recommendations for improvements uniquely tailored to your specific home.

Your home will be scored using Bermuda’s only Hurricane Resistance Rating (HRR) Scale.

Find out how your home ranks on Bermuda’s only Hurricane Resistance Rating scale. It’s a relative measure of how well your home is expected to perform in a Category 2 hurricane. The My Safe Bermuda Home report gives three detailed plans you can take to strengthen your home and reduce damage from hurricanes.

Here’s what we look for:

WINDSTORM:

We record all the physical and structural attributes of your home that effectively transfer the wind load from your roof, down through your walls and into the foundations. We’ll record the height and shape of your roof, construction materials and fixing methods, window and door openings and your specific exposure to wind and wave action during a category 2 hurricane. Taking steps to strengthen your home against windstorm damage may lead to a reduction in your homeowner premiums.

FLOODING:

We look at storm drainage, the lay of the land and how effectively your home sheds water away from the structure. We also look at internal plumbing devices such as water heaters, washer hoses and anything that might present a risk of water damage to your home and furnishings.

FIRE:

We inspect your Belco service panel, wiring, switches and outlets for unsafe conditions that may lead to a fire. Older wiring and existing "weekend warrier" jobs may not be considered safe by today's codes. The additional demands on circuits from modern living standards may present unsafe conditions that have gone unnoticed for years. We will also conduct a life safety audit of smoke detectors and make recommendations to fully protect your family.

THEFT:

We’d all like to think Bermuda hasn’t changed from the days of our grandparents but the sad truth is, it has. The threat of home invasions, burglaries and break-ins is very real and it’s prudent to take steps to secure your home. We will conduct a home security audit and identify areas of weakness that may present opportunities for thieves. Door and window types, locks, security lighting, sight lines between hedges and adequate warning devices will all be recorded with recommendations made on improvements
